Fall Break Week 1

Maybrie has two weeks off of school for fall break. Our first week has been pretty busy and fun-filled. It was a rainy week, so we found a lot of things to do indoors.
Monday: We enjoyed a lazy morning, colored Halloween pictures and Thomas practiced cutting with scissors. We went shoe shopping and bought both Thomas and Maybrie new winter shoes... Maybrie loves her new boots! We picked up Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner, and since it was way too much for our little family we had the Maxwell's join us. The kids always have so much fun together, we love having them as neighbors. Brian and I also got to Face Time with our dear friends the Gillespie's who live in WA.
Tuesday: We went to the Children's Museum with the Maxwell's and Kirkwood's. It was pretty packed, but we still managed to have a good time. That evening we went to the church for the annual Chili Cook-off.
Wednesday: We went to story time at the library and then I was able to get caught up on housework while the boys napped and Maybrie had her friend Lilly over for a play date.
Thursday: The kids got to play at the Maxwell's while I went to a doctor appointment and that night I got to go to girl's night at Applebee's. It was fun to be out and enjoy girl talk.
Friday: We went to Zoo Boo as a family, which is always a fun event.
Saturday: I spent the day at the church for our Relief Society Super Saturday craft activity. I was in charge of personalized glass etching on casserole dishes. It was by far the most popular project, and after cutting out 20+ stencils with my Cricut cutting machine... I am ready to take a break from it for a while! It was great interacting with so many awesome sisters and I was happy to help so many complete a project that was inexpensive and loved. I guess the craftiness of the day finally pushed me to complete a project I have been dying to do for a year now... bookshelves out of rain gutters. It was pretty inexpensive and easy and I LOVE the way they look, how many books they will hold, and how it saves space in our small home. Thank you Brian for helping me do it!

Children's book baby shower

This week Ezra has been making all kinds of new discoveries... he's pulling himself up to everything, books off the bookshelf, cups out of the bottom drawer in the kitchen, garbage cans, cords, etc. He is everywhere, busy busy! It's been a pretty typical week... Maybrie fighting me about getting dressed and doing her hair each morning, play dates, bad days, grocery shopping, I went back to the gym, I got new black boots. Brian and I got to go to the premiere of Meet the Mormons with friends on Friday night. It was so good, inspiring, and uplifting.

On Saturday I got to help throw a children's book baby shower for our good friend Maddie Daetwyler. We moved to Indy at the same time and have been anticipating the arrival of their first baby. Becca and I headed up the planning, but there were so many friends who helped (Jessica, Alisa, Gabby, Alanna, Dawn, Rachel). Ami Bunker was so kind to host it at her house which had the perfect layout. I seriously had never had so much fun throwing a shower before... probably because I love the theme and the guest of honor so much! We had a blast!

Today was one of those funny adventures in motherhood. Ezra and Thomas were dressed in matching blue button-ups for church... they looked so cute we actually snapped pictures. But during church Ezra spit up all over his shirt and was left in a plain white onesie that also got pretty grossly covered in spit up. Thomas had a blow out diaper during nursery that went up the back of his shirt. Luckily daddy was wearing a vest... so that's what Thomas got to where the last half hour of church! It was a wild church day... but we managed to relax at home with some yummy pumpkin pancakes for dinner and Disney's Hercules. It was a wonderful weekend... now here's hoping we can make this first completely rainy week of Maybrie's fall break from school a good one!
