Children's book baby shower

This week Ezra has been making all kinds of new discoveries... he's pulling himself up to everything, books off the bookshelf, cups out of the bottom drawer in the kitchen, garbage cans, cords, etc. He is everywhere, busy busy! It's been a pretty typical week... Maybrie fighting me about getting dressed and doing her hair each morning, play dates, bad days, grocery shopping, I went back to the gym, I got new black boots. Brian and I got to go to the premiere of Meet the Mormons with friends on Friday night. It was so good, inspiring, and uplifting.

On Saturday I got to help throw a children's book baby shower for our good friend Maddie Daetwyler. We moved to Indy at the same time and have been anticipating the arrival of their first baby. Becca and I headed up the planning, but there were so many friends who helped (Jessica, Alisa, Gabby, Alanna, Dawn, Rachel). Ami Bunker was so kind to host it at her house which had the perfect layout. I seriously had never had so much fun throwing a shower before... probably because I love the theme and the guest of honor so much! We had a blast!

Today was one of those funny adventures in motherhood. Ezra and Thomas were dressed in matching blue button-ups for church... they looked so cute we actually snapped pictures. But during church Ezra spit up all over his shirt and was left in a plain white onesie that also got pretty grossly covered in spit up. Thomas had a blow out diaper during nursery that went up the back of his shirt. Luckily daddy was wearing a vest... so that's what Thomas got to where the last half hour of church! It was a wild church day... but we managed to relax at home with some yummy pumpkin pancakes for dinner and Disney's Hercules. It was a wonderful weekend... now here's hoping we can make this first completely rainy week of Maybrie's fall break from school a good one!

Fall Break

This week was filled with some good family time. On Wednesday Maybrie didn't have school because of parent teacher conferences. So the kids and I went to her school and met with her teacher in the morning... happy to report Maybrie is doing well and progressing just as she should. Then Maybrie was able to join us for playgroup at the park in Greenwood. The kids had so much fun playing with their friends and it was probably the last warm sunny day of the year.

On Thursday and Friday Brian had fall break. We kept Maybrie home from school Thursday to go play as a family. We got rained out of our Connor Prairie idea so we went to the indoor playground at Trader's Point Church. It was Maybrie and Brian's first time. We all had fun and Maybrie and Thomas especially loved having daddy to run around with. On Friday we sent Maybrie to school because Brian had to go into the lab to complete an assignment due Monday (Boo!... poor guy hardly gets a real break). The boys and I met up with Brian for a Chick-Fil-A lunch at the dental school, which was a nice break for him since he didn't even make it home until 3pm.

Saturday we headed down to Bicknell, IN to Kirkwood Farms for our friend's, Chris and Holly, second annual Fall Harvest Party. Besides being a little cold and windy we had a blast! We enjoyed good food, face painting, blow up slide, ferris wheel, plane carnival ride, log ride, horses, hay ride to the pumpkin patch, and visiting with good friends. It was the perfect getaway and fall kickoff. We listened to the Saturday afternoon session of general conference on the way home while all three kids slept. We picked up Papa Murphy's pizza on the way home and I enjoyed the movie Belle while Brian went to Priesthood session. On Sunday we watched conference from the comfort of our home. Maybrie loved coloring and doing the activities in the conference packet I printed out for her. Thomas colored for about ten minutes total! We had the Pena's and the Clem's over for BBQ ribs between sessions... good food and good company. Conference was wonderful as always. We also got to face time with both our parents. It was a great weekend!
